The deployment gap is the defining problem of enterprise AI: models keep improving, but deployments keep failing. Forward Deployed Engineers are how Context closes that gap. You embed with a customer, sit beside the people whose judgment makes the work good, and take their highest-value workflows from first runbook to production agents.
This is a building role, not a support role. You write runbooks, wire connectors, shape the context filesystem, and define the rubrics that decide what ships — then feed everything you learn back into the platform.
What you will do
Embed with enterprise customers to identify the workflows where agents can deliver measurable wins in the first weeks of a deployment.
Author runbooks with the customer's own experts, capturing not just the steps but the judgment behind them.
Configure Engine deployments across hosted, VPC, on-prem, and air-gapped environments, working within each customer's identity and security model.
Build the first golden sets and rubrics for each workflow, and tune retrieval until expert reviewers accept the work.
Carry what you learn in the field back to product and engineering as concrete, prioritized platform changes.
You will thrive in this role if you
Have shipped software in messy, real-world environments and enjoy being the person customers trust to make things work.
Can hold the room with a managing director and pair with their analysts in the same afternoon.
Write clearly: runbooks, postmortems, and customer-facing docs are first-class output in this job.
Are energized rather than discouraged by enterprise constraints — change control, audit, compliance — because you understand they are why the work is valuable.
